Benin, a colourful country in West Africa that was once known as Dahomey, became independent in 1975 after becoming a French colony. Benin is renowned for its ethnic and religious diversity, but its most alluring feature is its gorgeous scenery, which stretches from the untamed savannahs and Atakora highlands in the northwest to the palm-lined beaches in the south. While seeing this captivating nation, keep in mind to honour local traditions, particularly those pertaining to photography in a place where Voodoo is the predominant religion and taking a picture is seen to be equivalent to taking a picture of someone's soul. Even if you don't take many photos, you will always remember Benin's breathtaking scenery and kind locals.
